Dear friends in China,
Working on “The Breadwinner” film was a special experience for me and the entire team who dedicated many years to its creation. The central character Parvana, a 12-year-old girl who is growing up in a time of conflict, touched me deeply. I related to her as a mother and felt her journey as though she was my own child. The theme of “Hope” courses through the film, manifested in Parvana’s actions and her interactions with the people she meets along the way.
Having received GOLDEN GLOBE® and ACADEMY AWARD® nominations for the film, and seeing the film with audiences around the world, I am humbled by the overwhelming response of those who experience Parvana’s journey. I am so excited that The Breadwinner will soon be in Chinese cinemas!
The cinema is the best way to experience The Breadwinner film. The care and attention the animators and sound designers gave to make this a heartfelt, immersive experience can only be fully felt in the cinema. I do hope you can support the film.
